Veneta Nielsen was born October 25, 1909 in Wellsville, Utah to Mr. & Mrs. Paul Leatham. She married Harold L. Nielsen, with whom she had two children. Following high school she attended Utah State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1940. In 1946 she was appointed to the faculty in the USU English department where she taught for the next thirty years.
